Research Interests
I am interested in environmental DNA, which refers to the sum of DNA fragments that can be directly extracted from environmental samples (such as water, soil, air, ice core, etc.). Environmental DNA is a mixture of DNA from different species such as microorganisms, animals, and plants, including intracellular DNA released by organisms into epidermal cells in the environment through skin, urine, feces, mucus, etc. It also includes extracellular DNA that is released into the environment after cell death.
At present, my main work is to capture DNA from environmental samples and preserve, extract, amplify, sequence and classify it to determine the distribution of organisms in the sampled environment, which is called environmental DNA technology.
