Welcome to LMSE!

The Lab of Molecular Systematics and Ecology

Introduction

The Lab of Molecular Systematics and Ecology (LMSE), led by Dr Chenhong Li (PI) of Shanghai Ocean University, focuses on applying the next-generation sequencing data to study biodiversity in all dimensions.

We are interested in developing data collection tools, such as genome-wide single-copy nuclear gene markers, cross-species target-gene enrichment protocols, library preparation from trace amount of DNA, and new environment DNA (eDNA) method using gene capture. We are also interested in new data analysis strategies, such as finding the best data filtering methods for phylogenomic studies, preparing (assemble and cleanup) gene capturing data for analyzing gene adaptation. Please read the "research" page for more information. The organisms that we are interested in are highly diverse, mainly in fishes (e.g., sturgeons, gobies, the Chinese perch, herrings and anchovies), but also include reptiles, mammals, crustaceans, ciliates, nematodes, tapeworms, and others. One of our favorite parts of research is to go to the field to observe nature habitat and collect samples.

We highly cherish team work and have established collaborations with research groups from all over the world, such as the US, Germany, Brazil, Australia and Korea. You are more than welcome to contact us if you are interested in our research, or if you want to join us as a graduate student or Postdoc
