Research Interest
My research focuses on molecular taxonomy and phylogenetics, specifically on the phylogeny of Asian Ailiids, including species from Nepal. This area of study is crucial for understanding the evolutionary relationships among species, which is key to conservation efforts and biodiversity management. By studying the genetic diversity of these fishes, I aim to elucidate their evolutionary history, biogeographical patterns, and the processes driving species diversification. My work also seeks to uncover cryptic species and resolve taxonomic ambiguities that traditional methods might overlook. This research is particularly important in the context of Nepal's freshwater biodiversity, where many fish species are yet to be fully documented or understood.
